Never a dull moment on the farm...
Besides the terrifying rattlesnake incidents
our interactions with the critters
are quite amusing.
A few years ago, one of our resident marmots
had crawled into the wheel-well of our car
and stowed away when I went to work.
My co-worker noticed him hanging around
so, I got back into my car, waited for him
to get back onboard, then carefully
drove him back to reunite with family.
Currently there is a battle of wills
between hubby and the alpha squirrel
whose been stealing pears and stashing them
in between 2 sliding windowpanes
(his makeshift dehydrator 😮)
I am not sure who is going to win as
they seem pretty evenly matched LOL
The hummingbirds are my favourite
I can watch their antics and aerobatics
for hours.
They put on quite a show to earn their keep
(which isn’t cheap!)
We go through ½ cup of sugar each day
making nectar for them in the summer.
Between keeping their feeders clean
And scooping out our 3 litter boxes
(Yes, each cat has their own 😉)
My morning routine is full.
It’s quite the commitment
whether caring for our pets
or researching humane pest control…
But it is worth the effort ❤
As I’ve come to believe that all animals
not only cats, are Zen Masters. 🙏
I’ve always been an animal lover...
As kids, my childhood BFF and I
used to bury all the little deceased critters
we’d come across.
Then as teens, when my family cat
had been run over by a car
the neighbourhood boys
thoughtfully organized a full funeral service
to help ease my grief.
I am ever grateful 🥰
“Animals are God’s gift to humanity -
A source of joy, wonder, & inspiration.”
