If we expect perfection

from ourselves and others,

we will never be happy.

We are all flawed humans,

doing our best

in increasingly difficult times,

but we have the capacity

to heal and to grow.

These days we all have plenty of examples

of people who have upset us, or hurt us,

or those who simply push our buttons

and bring out the worst in us.

As a society we’ve become too ‘Me-Centric.’

We are so intolerant

and simply don’t have the time to listen,

to find something in common,

or to learn to appreciate our neighbours.

In this current day ‘mindset’ realm

we are encouraged to disassociate ourselves

from negative people.

I understand the reasoning behind this,

yet something about it

just doesn’t sit well with me.

For one, we can all be negative at times,

and we all have family or friends

that can be more negative than we’d like.

For another, I recall reading an article

about meditation in a Yoga magazine years ago,

in which the author was explaining

that it’s easy to meditate when the setting is perfect

and we are away from distraction,

but the challenge and the real value comes

from learning to meditate amidst the chaos.

Same goes for so-called negative people, wouldn’t you think?

What makes more sense to me

was something I read recently

about things we can do

to raise our personal energy and vibration

so that we are less affected by our environment.

I believe that is the secret.

If we can learn how to become grounded

and then take the time to be mindful

and choose our thoughts, our words, our actions carefully,

we can build cultures of authenticity and healing…

Much love <3
