I feel my body tense up in fear

I close my eyes & take a breath…

I see

The sun rise over the horizon

Majestic snow-capped mountains

Turquoise-green glacier lakes

Evergreens

I smell

Fresh-cut grass

Budding trees

Lilacs & cherry blossoms

The rain falling on the hot dusty road

I hear

The marmots chirp & whistle to alert danger

The birds sing their sweet sing

The hummingbirds drinking sugar nectar from the feeder

I feel

A cool breeze

The sun warming my skin

A light rain on my face

The wet garden dirt between my fingers

The warm sand on my feet

The cold river water on my skin

I exhale and open my eyes…

Was it all just a dream?
